The event features a variety of activities for all ages: \n\n\n\n\nImmersive Nature Walk (9:00 am – 10:30 am): A mindfulness walk led by certified Forest Therapy guide Linda Lombardo. Registration is required. \n\n\n\n\n \n\n\n\n\nTrailhead Habitat Restoration (10:30 am – 12:00 pm & 1:00 pm – 2:30 pm): Join a biologist-supervised session to remove invasive species and plant natives. Tools and lunch are provided for volunteers. Registration is required. \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nFamily-Friendly Trail Walk (10:30 am – 4:00 pm): A self-guided scavenger hunt and free nature crafts. DESCRIPTION:Join the Phrag Fight at West Brook! \n\n\n\nHelp Seatuck Environmental Association protect the newly free-flowing West Brook at Bayard Cutting Arboretum. Since the dam failed in 2019\, the brook is flowing naturally for the first time in a century\, creating a rare and vital habitat for migratory fish like Alewife and sea-run Brook Trout. \n\n\n\nVolunteer to remove invasive Phragmites (common reed) at West Brook. Seatuck has several week day and weekend dates for Spring 2026. DESCRIPTION:LIISMA will be joining the Peconic Land Trust for a hands-on stewardship event at Broad Cove! \n\n\n\nJoin us on Saturday\, April 18\, 2026\, from 10:00 am to 12:00 pm\, where we will be working together to protect our local woodlands. This workshop\, led by the LIISMA team alongside the Peconic Land Trust stewardship team\, is designed to empower you with the skills to identify and manage invasive species in our landscape. \n\n\n\nWhat We’ll Be Doing:\n\n\n\n\nIdentification: Learn how to spot common invasive plants that threaten our local ecosystem.\n\n\n\nBest Practices: Discover the most effective\, science-based methods for removal.\n\n\n\nActive Restoration: Get your hands dirty and help us clear invasives from this beautiful site!\n\n\n\n\nLocation & Logistics:\n\n\n\n\nWhere: Broad Cove (Overlook Drive\, Riverhead).\n\nNote: For GPS\, use “Lighthouse Deli and Catering” at 363 Meeting House Creek Rd\, Aquebogue\, to find the driveway for the parking lot.\n\n\n\n\n\nCost: Free! However\, reservations are required so we can ensure we have enough equipment for everyone.\n\n\n\nWhat to Bring: Please bring work gloves and a shovel or loppers if you have them. We will provide additional hand tools and refreshments.\n\n\n\nSafety: Tick protection is strongly recommended. This event is rain-cancels and appropriate for ages 15 and up.\n\n\n\n\nLet’s work together to keep Long Island’s woodlands healthy and resilient!
