Congratulations to the winning students of the LIISMA Invasive Species Prevention Poster Contest!
We received 105 amazing posters and each one impressed the LIISMA staff. Thanks to all students who sent in posters! Winning students will receive a variety of prizes depending on contest placement, including cash prizes, boot brushes, native plants, gift cards, and more. Special thanks to the teachers who included invasive species in their lesson plans this year. We hope this contest encouraged children, parents, and teachers to learn about invasive species and the effects they have on Long Island’s environment, agriculture, and recreation.
Contest winners were announced during NYISAW (New York Invasive Species Awareness Week), June 5 – 11. The mission of the New York Invasive Species Awareness Week (NYISAW) is to promote knowledge and understanding of invasive species and the harm they can cause. We want to empower YOU to stop the spread of invasive species!
