LIISMA/LINPI Symposium Call for Abstracts:

The Long Island Invasive Species Management Area and Long Island Native Plant Initiative are excited to announce our upcoming biennial symposium for spring 2024!

The 2024 LIISMA/LINPI Resilient Long Island Symposium will be held on March 8th in person and virtually, likely taking place at a venue in Nassau County. Abstracts for poster presentations and oral presentations are being accepted through September 19th, 2023.

Poster presentations may briefly summarize research or a practical project. Presenters will introduce their topic during the poster slam, and will later have the opportunity to speak further with guests on their work during the poster session. Oral presentations are lecture-style presentations that may utilize a PowerPoint or include a hands-on workshop component to inform the audience on their topic.

Poster and oral presentations should address one of the following topics. Submissions in similar related topics will be considered.

  1. Invasive species management or research
  2. Native plant propagation, care, etc.
  3. Restoration, ecological resilience, or other related ecological topics
  4. Diversity, equity and inclusion in conservation, such as topics on inclusive volunteerism and community science

Please submit your abstract to invasive@liisma.org  following these guidelines:

  1. Presenters and contact information
    1. Author names, titles and affiliations
    2. Presenter name, email and phone 
  2. Presentation preference type
    1. Poster or oral preferred
    2. If not selected for an oral presentation, would you be interested in providing a poster presentation?
  3. Abstract
    1. 300-word maximum length
