The brand-new LIISMA website is finally here!

By Abby Bezrutczyk, LIISMA Field Project & Outreach Coordinator,

Our staff were amused that “updating the LIISMA website” has been an item on our checklist for the past 5 years. Each year we made a little progress, but this time we took that update a step (or more like a leap) farther; we completely redesigned the site from top to bottom, in-house, with visitors like you in mind.

Our old website had a lot of useful information, but only if you knew where to look for it. This time around, we paid particular attention to putting all the important stuff in easy-to-find places.

  • On the “Species” page, you can learn about dozens of invasive species and sort them based on their habitat, lifeform, and tier ranking, with more species to be added in the future.
  • If you want to take action and help us prevent the spread of invasive species, the “Get Involved” page makes it easier than ever, with 5 simple actions and relevant resources for each.
  • The “Resources” page has everything from general guidelines for managing an invasion, advice for educators and gardeners, and even some of our favorite podcasts and books about invasive species.
  • Also be sure to check out the pages dedicated to each of our Invasive Species Prevention Zones (ISPZ’s) to learn more about the areas we’re working to protect, and the Tier List to see how we rank different invasive species within the LIISMA region.

Along with this, we aimed to make the website fun, attractive, and interactive because we think that makes learning all the more enjoyable. We’ll be posting regular updates on the website in conjunction with our newsletter on our field work, projects, and species to look out for– so stay tuned!

If you enjoy the new liisma.org, please share it with others!
