Resilient Long Island is a symposium in which community members, researchers, and professionals are invited to learn how to foster resilient ecological communities. After learning about native plants, invasive species management strategies, restoration practices, and more, attendees will be inspired to take action. Whether you are interested in managing invasive plants or implementing a restoration project, this event has something for everyone.
Hosted by the Long Island Invasive Species Management Area and Long Island Native Plant Initiative, expect three action-packed days of presentations, interactive workshops, a brewery poster session, and more!

March 7: Poster Social
Join us for our poster social co-hosted with Seatuck from 5:30pm-8:00pm, featuring:
- Talk by Author Jeremy Dennis
- Lightning Poster Presentations from Local Researchers and Professionals
- Local Beer, Wine, & Refreshments!
- Submit a Poster Abstract
March 8: Conference
Hofstra University, 8 am – 5 pm
Sondra & David S. Mack Student Center (Free parking available on campus)
This main event will consist of expert presentations and talks on native plants, restoration, invasive species, and conservation!
Featuring keynote speaker Chenae Bullock.
March 9: Workshops
This half-day event at the Sisters of St. Joseph, Brentwood will feature hands-on workshops and demonstrations, including:
- Native Plant Propagation
- Invasive Species Management
Workshop presenters include Alexis Doshas, Luke Gervase, and Amanda Furcall.

Yes– credits are available from the following organizations: Landscape Architecture (LACES), Society of American Foresters (SAF), Certified Nursery and Landscape Professional (CNLP), International Society of Arboriculture (ISA), and NYSDEC Pesticide Credits. Check back later for more details on ISA.
Continuing education credits apply for both virtual and in-person participation.
You will access a live stream of the Friday conference content via zoom. Unfortunately, there is no remote option for the Poster Social or the Saturday Workshops.
An email with the zoom link window will be sent at the time of registration. Use this link on Friday, 3/8.
Both workshops will begin at Building 2 of Sisters of St. Joseph. The main entrance of this building can be found at (40.773222, -73.241694).
Beverages (alcoholic and non-alcoholic) and snacks will be available at the poster social.
Coffee, refreshments, and lunch is included in the Friday in-person ticket price. During registration you may select from a range of sandwich lunch box options (gluten free, vegan, and kosher available).
There will be no food provided at the Saturday workshops.
If your organization is a non-profit or governmental organization, you can apply to have an exhibit table at this event upon registration. If you are a for-profit or non-profit, you may opt-in to exhibit tabling as a sponsor of the event at the level of little blue stem sponsor or above.
At Hofstra: There is no fee for parking. Parking can be found on the North side of campus in marked parking lots.
There is no hotel block reserved for attendees. However, there are several hotels in the vicinity of the Hofstra campus. For a complete list, please visit: https://www.hofstra.edu/visitors/hotels.html.
We are offering free tickets to Hofstra students & faculty, event volunteers, presenters and poster presenters, PRISM staff, and members of the Shinnecock Nation.
We are offering discounted tickets ($40) to all other students, seniors (65+), LINPI volunteers, and NYSDEC Employees.
To request access code: Please email resilientli@liisma.org with subject line “Special Ticket Request“. Please include your reason for special ticket eligibility in the body of the email.
Once you receive the access code, click “Have an Access Code?” in the upper right corner of the ticket purchasing area, and input the code. Select the special ticket that appears and complete registration.
